A few years back the buzz word in English football was Money Ball. It seemed that every up and coming manager had brought the book of the same name. With no one really having big success it really died off and the successful teams continue to be he richest clubs. I think one of the problems is football is doesn’t lend itself to data in the way that Baseball does. Maybe of Cricket had more money and media hype outside of twenty twenty and he international games it may have a more natural fit. Theres an interesting article on Wireds Playbook site (one of my new favourite sites) that talks about data and minor league baseball
