I was appalled at your decision to send off Liam Trotter in yesterday's FA cup game. Perhaps you view the game as a non contact sport, but it is your responsibility to apply the laws of the game as they are currently universally applied and understood. You failed entirely to do so. If that challenge was worthy of a red card, no game in any league would ever finish with more than 20 men on the field.

I and many others would appreciate the courtesy of an honest explanation of what was said in your earpiece and who said it.

Incidentally- the assertion to one of the ITFC coaching staff that you are a professional and 100% right is absurd. Many many professionals have commented on just how bad the decision was. Being a professional doesnt make you right. But it does mean you should have the integrity to be honest about decisions, to rescind bad red cards and to take some notice of the overwhelmingly consistent views of fans, managers (on both sides), pundits, commentators, players- and just about everyone else involved in the game.

I liked the music in the clip but for some reason when they were first preparing the device for the game I was imagining the theme from Mission Impossible.

I'd have probably tried to nail it with the caution after 5 minutes. That would say you're not taking any cr#p from the players. I've found even at my level that you give them an inch they'll take a mile. Perhaps the first two incidents where you say you should have cautioned, had you got the book out would that have prevented the flurry later on?

It's a difficult one to call. But those first 15 minutes are often the make or break of your day. Setting the standard. It's difficult to tell how they'd have reacted to a couple of early cautions, but if they know it should be a caution, and see you only having a word, it's like Gremlins having food after midnight - chaos. :)

Hiya.
I have just started to become a referee , and have my first match on sunday , I am only 17 years of age, and was wondering what you have to do to move up levels?

Thanks

That would have been a good thing to have put int he post really wouldnt it!

He looked over and thought what the hell have i missed. As it happend the ball was cleared and "danger" went so I lowered my flag naturally.

As it happend he is a Premier League Assistant and we had a guick chat about it at half time and then a good chat on the drive home.

Still now ive no idea why I did what I did. However the advice I recived is that to drop it straight away and get back into position as it may create more problems that it would solve by keeping with the flag.

Tell me about it. There is a chance we may pick up those re-arranged games so theres a chance yet.

Its a shame really that it was called off. I see you had appointed a new manager and so that would have added to the game.
