A few days ago I was randomly flicking through the channels at home and came across the bobsleigh on Eurosport. Now this is a sport that only comes into my conciseness when the Winter Olympics comes around and when ever Cool running is on TV. However as my little boy was watching as well I kept it on a little longer and found myself getting hooked and encouraging each competitor to go faster that the previous competitor. The more I watched this, the more I appreciated the technical side that the athletes have to take into account when travelling at high speeds.
The inches speech from Any Given Sunday is regularly cited as motivating and to be honest I have to agree. However one I think maybe just edges it for its context is from the movie Friday Night Lights….Being Perfect.
It loses a little on its own but through out the movie the coach makes the point that he wants his players to be perfect, then towards the end explains what being perfect is.
Well heavy is the word that the SPL Channel on Youtube uses to describe the challenge. This is from Thursdays Edinburgh derby between Hearts & Hibs .
All I can think is the angle of the Referee has prevented this from being a red card. I also think the fact that James Mcpake gets up and doesn’t make a meal of it also probably saved him.
This was the first song that played on my Ipod this morning on my drive to work.
