Six Weeks, the gap between my last game last Season and pre season fitness test. Six weeks the gap between fitness test and August. Six weeks, the lenght of time since my last game!
I at long last got back in Action on Saturday and it felt like it was the first day of the season again. I was luckily able to train a bit over the last 2 weeks so fitness was not really a concern. Although the first 10 minutes I was a bit mentally of the pace, and although didn’t realise this the first offside after a few minutes I had the flag in wrong hand!
It was a good line to get the cobwebs out the system. Early on in the first half I had flagged for a offside that would disallow the opening goal. However the Referee pulled play back for an earlier foul. Through out the first half I had a few tight offsides that I was sure were right, but to be honest I wouldn’t mind a quick look back at a couple of them.
Second half though cobwebs were out the system and felt well and truly at ease again, and needed to. The home side felt they should have had a penalty, which if scored would have put them 2-1 up. However the Referee waved this away. From there the moods of the players changed for the last 15 minutes and it got very heated with a total of 8 cautions. Luckily this happened at the stage that it did, if it had been early I don’t think some of the players would have ended up on the pitch.
Back in action on Saturday with a Supply Game, then I’ve got a good run of games coming up.
