So im sure a lot of you are going to feel so sorry for us. Were lucky at Contrib level to have some really good hospitality after games. This maybe in the changing room with a plate of Sandwiches, in the board room or in the social club. Ive never experienced an issue in all the seasons Ive refereed but always been warned. That its your choice to go in, and if there are issues it may be difficult for the FA.
Anyway a couple of weeks ago after a contrib game, we went for some food. In the past it’s always been the boardroom, this time it was the club. After about 5 minutes a spectator spotted us, and came over. He gave the other assistant a bit of a hard time, about waiting for the Referee on a decision. He was asked to leave us alone but had another pop, before he went away. Now I have no problem with talking to spectators and im not saying that we need a VIP section, but clubs do need to be careful as do officials. The assistant did go to get up and leave on his own. However the Referee asked him to sit down, and said we would leave together, united.

makes a change from the life vice president of a club grilling you in the boardroom i suppose!
