Its not a modern thing
Ive just been playing with the google news section and searching through the old new archives. I thought it may be interesting to see what Referee news there was back in 1930.
A piece of news caught my eye.
Jan 4th 1908.
PAWTUCKET. R.I., Jan. 4. — Incensed by a decision of Referee John Nesbit of New York, in the association football game between the local Howard and Bullough team, and West Hudsons of Newark, N.J., a crowd of 2,000 persons menaced Nesbit, and he was being roughly treated when rescued by the police and club members this afternoon
Seems that the current threats on Referee’s isnt a modern problem after all.
