A combined post this as there isnt a great deal to talk about from my last two games, alsoa bit short on time this week.
Saturday i was at Mickelover Sports for their fixture vs South Normanton.  On the whole there wasnt a great deal of incident in the game.  Also as a Assistant I didnt really have a great deal to do, however in the 1st half I flagged for a penalty for a shirt pull. The defender had two bites at pulling him back, however South Normanton missed it.  This proved costly to them as they went on to lose the game 2-0.
Monday night I went to Sutton Coldfield for their Southern League cup fixture vs Gloucster City.  It was a bit awkward down the touchlines as they were cut up and also quite slippy. I ended up changing my boots at half time as i couldnt get any grip in the ones i had on first half for some reason.
Sutton won 3-1 in what is an upset as Gloucester are in the division above them.  Again I didn’t have a great deal to do, however I dropped what has to be my biggest ever B*******. Â
1st haf, Sutton are on the attack.  A player is in an offside position toward the wing and a Sutton player is running with the ball, he plays it forward. I flag thinking the offside player is getting that.  However he stands still and the player who played the ball runs on to it!!!!!!
I couldn’t believe it. I know what I did, but I still do not know why I did it.  All I can think was it was a split second loss of concentration, but Im not sure to be honest as I was reading the situation, I just didnt wait and see.    I was really annoyed with myself for making such a school boy error.
However I guess you focus on the negatives, as I was pleased with an non offside flag for Suttons opener. Long range effort and player in an offside position in front of the goal, however not interfering etc so goal stood.
Although that Offside is going to haunt me for a while yet as I spoke to a local Referee on Tuesday night and he was already aware of it.  Word spreads fast I tell you.

What did the referee do? Give the offside or play on?
That would have been a good thing to have put int he post really wouldnt it!
He looked over and thought what the hell have i missed. As it happend the ball was cleared and “danger” went so I lowered my flag naturally.
As it happend he is a Premier League Assistant and we had a guick chat about it at half time and then a good chat on the drive home.
Still now ive no idea why I did what I did. However the advice I recived is that to drop it straight away and get back into position as it may create more problems that it would solve by keeping with the flag.
[...] was the first “line” I had done since the 26th November when I had a shocker and so it was nice to get back on the line. I have a run now of 3 games on the bounce all on the [...]
