Weekend Round Up 27th Oct
After the previous weekend and focus on Mark Clatenburg it was good that a weekend when without any major talking points. It was interesting to see the breakdown of Drogba’s goal on Goals on Sunday at the weekend. When the shot came in Lampard & Drogba were both off side. The ball comes back and my view is they then become active. If the ball had gone straight in then I would have said Goal, however as it came back to them for me Offside. What do you think?
There was two penalty’s as well over the weekend. While I agree the penalty in the Portsmouth game was correct I thought it was a bit unlucky, however the ball hit his hand and he didn’t attempt to move it out of the way, instead the ball bounced a few times so no complaints there. Same in the Birmingham game as well where the Defender has come out with his hands up.
A decision I was impressed with was the dismissal of Greg Halford for Sunderland. Both incidents were cautions, however I thought Andre Mariner did well to spot the pull for the 2nd caution.
