October Fixtures

October is shaping up to be a bit of an odd month really.  Since the fixtures came out just over a week ago Ive had some swapping around.

I should have been at Alfreton tonight for a Setanta Shield game.   However this is off due to an FA Cup Replay.  I was disappointed as I was pleased to get this game.  For those of you who dont know its a knock out cup for the Blue Square Premier, North & South clubs.  The first 2 rounds (i think) are the North & South clubs then they bring in the Premier clubs (the conference in old money).   I hadn’t as yet had a Conference North game this season so was happy to get this.

However it has been re-arragned for next Tuesday.   Now I have a supply game on this date and expected to lose the Alfreton game.  However I have been taken of the Supply game and will stay on the Alfreton game.   I will then try to be given an extra Supply game this month.  Im close to my 10 already so not desperate like some guys to get my games in.

This Saturday I have a nice trip to Port Vale for their U18 fixture vs Stockport.   Its nice to go here as they chance at the ground and then go to their training pitch at the back of the stand.   I normally go here every couple of years and its always nice.   Only downside to thse games is its an early morning start so there goes Saturdays lie in :)

Ive currently got the following 2 Saturdays free, I am though hoping I can pick up a game for these days.  Its to early in the season to be getting free Saturdays. Plus Ive had to close the last Saturday of the month due to work commitments.

This leaves me with one more supply game which is a Senior League Cup game.  This is Saffron Dynamo vs Blaby.  Ive never Referee’d Saffron before and so will be interested in what they are like.  They got promoted last season and are currently top of the league, although its a little inflated as they’ve played a couple of games more than other teams.

This leaves me to an “extra” appointment that I received at the weekend.  I have been appointed to Kettering vs Gainsborugh or Boston (they play tonight) in Round 2 of the Setanta Shield.   Ive never been to Kettering before, everyone local has but its always seemed to escape me so I was pleased to get the chance to go there.   Then I read the email a bit further and found that this is scheduled as a televised game on Setanta Sports!  Bloody Hell!    However chance is that this wont happen as its 4th round of the FA Cup that weekend and if the replay I guess this game would be moved.
