Steve Bennett Carrying on with the profile’s of this years Select Group, we move on to last years FA Cup Final referee Steve Bennett.

Steve started out as a Referee in 1984, gaining promotion to the Football League Referee’s list in 1995. He gained promotion to the Premier League in 1999 & FIFA in 2001. As well as the FA Cup Final, Steve has officiated the League cup final in 2005 between Chelsea & Liverpool.

Steve also holds the honour of refereeing “the other final“. This was a game held on the same day as the World cup final in 2002 between Bhutan & Monserat, the two lowest ranked teams according to FIFA. This match was made in to a documentary and released in 2005.

Last Season in 45 games Steve issued 151 Cautions & 14 Red Cards.

    Dont know your history Bennett, but you should say sorry for the red card to Ronaldo. I know that you didnt do what was right. I KNOW that you saw NO reason to gime him that red card. Shame on you..

    Man Utd fan….probably lives in Torpoint ;-) Ronaldo clearly initiated head to head contact, though only slight is still deemed to be violent conduct and thus should be sent of. :-) Aww Shame

    david is correct! As a referee myself this is definatley enough to be deemed VC (violent conduct) ans should be shown the red card!
