Cold Day at the office
Well the fog cleared and so I managed to have a game today. Although it was rather cold it has to be said.
I was out on the Senior League at Barrow vs Highfields. Highfields are notoruious for being a difficult team to Ref, the whole worlds against them is the attitude. After about 10 minutes I had a word with one player for a hard challenge he won the ball but I thought I would just mention to him to be careful. To which I got a mouthfull back. So what was man managment then because a strong word. About 10 minutes later a Highfields player clattered a player with a late challenge, easy caution. I then had two further challenges where I chose to have a word. Nothing nasty just a bit strong. Less than 30 seonds after the second I had another caution for a late challenge.
In the 43rd minute with the score at 1-1 I cautioned the Highfeield 15. This was dissent as he had moaned from the very first minute and to be honest just broke my tollerance level. It still didnt shut him up and I just ignored him all game. Any time he came near me i just moved away. There was no way I was going to send him for 2 lots of dissent.
Anyway second half and Barrow come out trying to impose themselves on the game. Two cautions for Barrow players early on for rash challenges soon killed the physical challenge. Barrow though where the stronger side and soon got in to a 3-1 lead. The third goal resulted in some flack which was just stupid. A Barrow player and Highfield player were both down injured. This meant that the Highfield player played a Barrow player on side who scored. Highfields claimed it should be unsporting behaviour and I should caution them because they didnt put the ball out. I asked why they didnt put it out for them……..
I had a further caution for another challenge where the player trood on the Barrow skippers foot. For a momment I thought I had already booked him, but he was one I had spoken to earlier for a over enthusiastic challenge.
Barrow finished the game 5-1 despite a missed penalty. This must have been one of the least appealed penaltys ive ever given.
