Speaking of the PGMO they have launched an official website. It contains the latest news of the elite english officials. It also includes some very interesting profiles.Â
As well as the Referee information, it also has some useful information on the training and the assesors and directives that they follow.
Its a new site, but I can see myself visiting RefWorld quite a lot in the coming months.
Dundee United are investigating the option of Legal Action against Mike McCurry the Referee in their 3-1 defeat to Rangers at the weekend.
Dundee United feel that a clear penalty was turned down which would have resulted in a Red Card to a rangers player. Also that a goal was ruled out for offside when it came of a Rangers player.
Its interesting as well that they want to suggest something from the fact that the Referee said to Nacho Novo “”Good goal, Nacho” midway through the first half after the Spaniard had put his side 2-0 up.  Â
I cant comment on the Referee or the context or the timing. However Ive made similar comments to players its called man management and being involved in the game. It seems to me that they wont stand a chance to be honest and just seem are looking for excuses.
For those of you that haven’t heard of it. Prozone is a high tech system used by a lot of Premier League clubs to monitor movement, position and work rate of players during a game. It also allows the manager to review situations.
A&H International have started selling a DVD that has been created by the PGMO using real situations from real games and using the Prozone system. Ive wondered what is included in the DVD as its not something I would just go buy at that price.
If your interested to see whats included in the DVD though you can see here.
Incase you trying to access the excellent ratetheref website. I have received the following email.
Hi guys,
We’re having slight issues with our ratetheref.co.nr domain name at the moment, but the boards are still working and you can still visit using the following address: http://z8.invisionfree.com/officialsonly/index.php
We’ll try and get the domain problems sorted soon.
I was asked on Saturday before the game the following question. Â
“Why now do Assessor’s come into the changing room before the game?”
The answer to this question is quite simple. The FA want more openness and more of a team worth ethos between the Match Officials and the Assessor.Â
You see way back in the old days when I first started. Theory was first you knew of an assessments was when you got the report through the post. Reality was where I first started I knew every assessor in my small area and would end up talking to them before, after and half time.  However as I progressed into Leicestershire and to Level 4 this was less the case. You would find out afterwards but that was all.
This was until 2 years ago when they were expected to contact you the night before and meet you before the game. Some would listen to pre match instructions some wouldn’t.
The case the person was putting forwards was that if the Referee knew that the assessor was there, instead of managing a decision they would perhaps issue a card as they were under scrutiny. I argued that you didn’t have time to do think what they want and only act within the game.
This sparked a well meant debate between the assessor and the individual.  However it was at a time when I really didn’t have the time to be getting into it.Â
It was no coincidence I’m sure that this same individual was asked to leave the technical area and his comment was that I only did this because the assessor was there……..
